Nutrisystem

So I got a deal on 5 weeks of Nutrisystem meals (none of the fresh-frozen meals, just the shelf stable foods) and I'm going to give my impressions of the system and food as I go. I hate to say it, but my first impressions are that I'm NOT impressed with Nutrisystem. They have an online site just for Nutrisystem members for support, logging and "information". The information just isn't there. Same goes for what they send you as a new member. There really isn't any explanation other than "eat this" and a list of foods to add in. That's it. I'm not impressed. Also Nutrisystem has different options that allow you to "flex" or eat completely or partially off-plan (off-plan means not Nutrisystem meals/snacks), yet there's no information on how to do so. I have no intentions of eating "on-plan". For me this is primarily a flex system with maybe an on-plan day here and there so this information is crucial. It's also very crucial if you ever want to succeed on your own (meaning you're not going to support Nutrisystem for the rest of your life) if you don't already know much about eating better, or how your meals should be broken down and what to compose them of. I don't see the support that should be there to teach you how to manage without their food 24/7 for the rest of your life. This disspoints me big time. I already have the knowledge, but it's always nice to have it reaffirmed or shown to you in a different way.

Breafast Meals:
Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal:
Apple Granola Bar: Not bad, but just not for me. Tasted great though.
Apple Strudel Bar:
Apple Strudel Scone:
Banana Nut Muffin: Not bad. Good flavor. I heated it up for 5 seconds in the microwave because so far, all of their muffins start out as "bricks". Texture is what you would expect of a shelf-stable muffin.
Berries & Multigran Flakes:
Blueberry Flavored Pancake Mix :
Blueberry Muffin:
Breakfast Burrito:
Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola Bar:
Chocolate Chip Scone: This was pretty good. Almost like eating a cookie for breakfast.
Cinnamon Bun: Good flavor. Still feels like a "brick" after heating though.
Cinnamon Bun Bar: A real treat for breakfast. Yum!
Cinnamon Swirl Granola Bar:
Cluster Crunch Cereal:
Cranberry Granola Bar:
Cranberry Orange Pastry: This was WONDERFUL!
Crispy Rice Cereal:
Double Chocolate Muffin: Okay, not great. More of a bitter-sweet chocolate taste than I prefer.

Black Bean Tortilla Soup:
Cheese Tortellini:
Cheesy HomeStyle Potatoes:
Chicken and Pasta in Cacciatore Sauce: This one was pretty good. I cooked and added 1 cup broccoli and 1/2 cup corn to this. (Corn isn't on the list of "ok" foods, but I'm not going to give up something that I like that's still a healthy vegetable.)
Chicken Fajita Melt:
Chicken Noodle Soup:
Chicken Quesadilla:
Chicken Salad:
Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar: Absolutely delicious! Tastes wonderful and is more like a treat than anything!

Fudge Graham Bar:
Hearty Minestrone Soup:
Italian-Style Wedding Soup:

Noodles with Chicken and Vegetables:
Pasta Parmesan with Broccoli: This one smelled gross and tasted gross. I doctored it with 1 cup cooked broccoli, 1 tuna pouch and 2 Tbsp. reduced-fat Parmesan cheese. (I borrowed a dairy/protein serving from my afternoon snack to permit both the tuna and Parmesan.) After doctoring it up, it was edible, but wasn't yummy. The best part was the fresh cooked broccoli.
Pasta with Beef:
Peanut Butter & Jelly Bar: This wasn't too bad. I probably would have liked it more if I liked grape jelly (I really hate grape jelly). The peanut butter wasn't too sweet, but didn't taste bad. The dealbreaker for me for this item was the grape jelly center. If I liked grape jelly, I think this would have been a good lunch bar.
Red Beans & Rice with Sausage:
Roasted Vegetable Pizza:
Split Pea Soup:
Steak and Cheese Melt:
Three Cheese Pasta with Chicken:
Toasted Ham and Cheese:

Grilled Chicken Breast:
Hearty Beef Stew:
Homestyle Beef with Mashed Potatoes & Gravy:
Italian Herb Flatbread Pizza: This wasn't too bad. I added 4 slices of turkey bacon, and cooked it in the oven. I prefer the thick crust pizza over this one, but still tasted really good.
